Kimaterials Inc.
Founded in 1960
Named for the original owner’s daughter, Kim, we started by supplying material to a local railroad company. Soon after, Kimaterials expanded by selling material to customers in the construction industry.
Kimaterials Inc.
Supplier of Quality Sand & Gravel
Our material comes from a deposit that is part of a seam of glacial sand that followed the Mississippi River Basin. The sand and gravel was moved down with the glaciers and deposited in the basin.
The material is 70 feet deep. Our operation started out using a dragline to remove material from the lake, but our current operation, which is the fourth processing plant, uses industry leading technology.
This includes an electric chain ladder dredge that removes the material and pumps it through a 14-inch pipeline more than 2,000 feet to the processing facility. Current material is a blend of glacier and river sand. The plant removes any impurities, producing low lignite sand for use in finish concrete, concrete block, precast products and Ready-Mix concrete. Our gravel is used for landscaping applications, bio retention fields and concrete mixes.
